A SPECIAL EPISODE OF BREAKING DOWN BARRIERS FOLLOWING THE LAUNCH OF THE INAUGURAL PWHL SEASON
n the midst of an intensely competitive environment, “BREAKING DOWN BARRIERS - A NEW ERA UNVEILED” dives into the intricacies of the highly anticipated inaugural season of the Professional Women’s Hockey League. The documentary explores the challenges faced, the sacrifices made, the palpable excitement felt in each city in the league, and the meticulous preparations that have culminated in a historic season opener on January 1st, 2024.
“BREAKING DOWN BARRIERS - A NEW ERA UNVEILED” promises an exclusive and in-depth exploration of this recently established league. Offering viewers a privileged glimpse behind the scenes, the documentary captures the essence of the league’s launch, featuring key personalities such as Sarah Nurse from PWHL Toronto, Jincy Roese from PWHL Ottawa, and Jayna Hefford, the Director of Hockey Operations for PWHL.
“A NEW ERA UNVEILED,” gives audiences an unprecedented look into the league, providing a unique and comprehensive perspective on the unfolding of this significant chapter in women’s professional hockey, and ultimately, the launch of league that many thought was impossible... but went on to shatter all expectations.
FORMAT
REAKING DOWN BARRIERS - A NEW ERA UNVEILED was filmed in the winter of 2023 when the PWHL was only a dream, and continued filming through to mid January, 2024. The time frame of filming gives the audience a full 360 perspective of the league from conception through to the puck drop.
The final product will be a 30 minute episode on TSN (24:00 content, 6:00 commercial time) along with customized vignettes of 00:30 and 01:00 that are specifically built for partner promotional needs.
Broadcast will take place in mid February as a lead in / shoulder content for a prime time PWHL.
