Before the puck drops on a new season, NHL players go to work where no one is watching. Behind the Curtain goes inside the off-season training that decides who’s ready.

Professional hockey is now a multi-billion-dollar business, and the days of using training camp to play your way into shape are over. With millions of dollars on the line, NHL players spend their summers chasing every edge they can find: sport science, conditioning, recovery and mental preparation. Behind the Curtain follows some of the league’s top players through the final weeks of their off-season. We’re in the gym for the early sessions, on the ice for the high-tempo skates and in the quiet moments in between, when players talk about what it takes to stay at the top of the most competitive league in the world. It’s a rare look at the side of the game fans never see: the work done in August that shows up in October.
