An NHL player goes home to his Cree Nation to give the next generation the dream hockey gave him.
On Ochapowace Cree Nation in Saskatchewan, hockey is woven into daily life. Ethan Bear grew up here. He practically lived at the old rink and skated to the far end of the ice so his mother couldn’t take him home. He went on to the NHL, one of only a handful of Indigenous players in the league. Every summer he comes back. Camp of Dreams follows Ethan through the week of his skills camp. He and his family unload boxes at the rink, greet campers at the registration desk and lead huddles on the ice with kids who have his jersey, printed in Cree, on their bedroom walls. Dominick is one of them, and now he wants to play in the NHL too. Dante is another. He lost his mother and is being raised by his grandmother, who watches every drill from the stands. Ethan may be a star who made it to the NHL... but he is never far from home.
